AI Risk Engineering Manager

The Tech org at OVO is experiencing an exciting growth phase, with hiring opportunities across all data squads throughout 2024 and early 2025. One of the key vacancies is for an AI Risk Engineering Manager, a new and impactful role focused on guiding AI product development through the lens of risk management and ethical practice.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct detailed risk assessments of third-party products and services that apply to AI, evaluating potential risks to data privacy, security, and ethical considerations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations, including GDPR and other applicable laws.
- Work closely with Procurement and vendors to understand their AI practices and ensure they meet our risk management standards.
- Build and deploy an incident response plan for AI-related risks, including data breaches and algorithmic bias.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate AI risks, including technical controls, contractual agreements, and employee training.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of AI risk and management policies and procedures.
- Continuously supervise AI risks and provide regular reports to senior management, including the Monthly AI Council.
- Strong technical background in AI, machine learning, and data privacy.
- Proven experience in risk management, preferably in a technology or data-centric environment.
- Proven experience of data protection regulations and best practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field, such as computer science, engineering, or mathematics. (MSc or PhD in a related subject, or certifications in AI, risk management, and data privacy are a plus).
- This is a senior-level role requiring a high degree of autonomy and initiative.
- The ideal candidate will be passionate about AI and its ethical use, with a strong dedication to data protection.
- Salary range of £75K - £100K plus a discretionary on-target bonus.
- 34 days holiday including bank holidays.
