About the Role

RH Commercial Vehicles is seeking a skilled and experienced HGV Technician to join our team at our Leicester site. As a key member of our workshop team, you will be responsible for maintaining commercial vehicles and trailers to DVSA standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all vehicles and trailers to ensure they are safe and roadworthy.
  • Diagnose and rectify any faults, using your technical expertise and knowledge of commercial vehicles.
  • Work on your own initiative to ensure cost-effective and safe repairs, adhering to DVSA standards and company procedures.
  • Handle vehicles carefully and ensure all precautions are taken in the workshop or customer premises.
  • Ensure all Health and Safety regulations and company safe systems of work and processes are adhered to at all times.
  • Keep up to date with all relevant DVSA and product developments, attending training and workshops as required.
  • Be receptive to training and participate in the ongoing development and continuous improvement of the business.
  • Support and mentor our apprentices, sharing your knowledge and expertise.
  • Participate in site security requirements and complete work as directed by the Shift Supervisor, Workshop Foreman, or Dealer Point Manager.

Working Hours

The role will involve working on rotating shifts, including early and late shifts, with the following schedules:

  • Early shift: Monday to Friday, 06:00 - 14:30
  • Late shift: Monday to Thursday, 13:30 - 22:00, Friday, 09:30 - 18:00
  • Saturday: 08:00 - 12:00

Requirements

  • City & Guilds level 3, NVQ level 3, or equivalent qualification related to commercial vehicles.
  • A valid full driving licence.
  • Your own set of tools, but we will provide a tool allowance.
  • Experience as an HGV Technician, with a strong understanding of commercial vehicles, electronics, and diagnostics.
  • Excellent relationship skills with customers and colleagues.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently, using your own initiative.

Desirable Qualifications

  • A broad understanding of commercial vehicles.
  • Experience in using R2C.
  • An HGV and/or forklift truck licence.
