About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our team at Timberpak Ltd., a leading wood recycler. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining our plant equipment, ensuring efficient and cost-effective operations, and overseeing routine maintenance and repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair plant and equipment on site, providing recommendations for increasing efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Liaise with the Operations Manager to address mechanical and electrical equipment issues and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Act as the first point of contact for repairs and maintenance work, arranging and monitoring contractors to ensure quality and safety standards are met.
- Perform routine maintenance on plant and equipment, ensuring all tasks are conducted safely and efficiently.
- Manage external service providers and contractors, ensuring timely and effective maintenance and repairs.
- Support the planning, installation, and commissioning of new equipment, ensuring seamless integration into our operations.
- Ensure all maintenance and related tasks are conducted in a safe working manner, reporting any incidents or hazards promptly.
- Assist in the planning and development of infrastructure on site, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and tidy maintenance workshop and stores, adhering to high standards of housekeeping.
Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Fabrication experience, including various welding techniques such as MIG and Arc, with a coded welder qualification an advantage.
- FLT Licence, with training provided for the right candidate.
- Supervisory experience or experience managing external contractors.
- Knowledge of relevant Health and Safety Legislation.
- Intermediate standard of IT skills and competent use of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Good communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Well-organised and efficient.
