Senior Mechanical Project Engineer

At Diamond Light Source, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement creative, innovative, and adaptive solutions for complex mechanical projects.
  • Design and develop engineering specifications, concept designs, and detailed designs for mechanical systems.
  • Lead the production of engineering designs using CAD and FEA tools, and manage project files containing all relevant project documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage risks and develop solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and project teams.

Requirements:

  • Engineering degree or significant equivalent experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Proven experience in the delivery of complex equipment, including developing specifications, concept designs, and detailed designs.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, 3D modeling systems, and modern manufacturing methods, including additive manufacturing techniques.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to discuss ideas, present possible solutions, and debate at all stages of projects.
