Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist to join our team at North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. This is an exciting opportunity to work with individuals who have learning disabilities and or autism, providing specialist forensic care and support.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality care, working collaboratively with in-patient services to reduce length of stay and supporting step down and recovery in the community.

This role offers the chance to apply proactive risk management approaches, using specialist forensic skills and knowledge to prevent admission and re-admission. You will also be involved in delivering offence-specific therapeutic interventions and ensuring robust multi-agency involvement to ensure public/community safety.

As a member of our team, you will participate in regular MDT meetings, CPA reviews, MAPPA, safeguarding, risk reviews, and provide clinical leadership and Responsible Clinician role.

This is a challenging yet rewarding role that requires flexibility, tolerance, and awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, Transforming Care policy, and legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fulfilling the Community Responsible Clinician responsibility for patients accepted into the service
  • Providing outpatient or community clinics and home visits
  • Participating in regular MDT meetings, CPA reviews, MAPPA, safeguarding, risk reviews, and providing clinical leadership and Responsible Clinician role
Requirements
  • Eligible for inclusion in Specialist Register or within 6 months of gaining CCT
  • CCT in Psychiatry
  • Knowledge and experience of assessing and treating individuals with learning disability and or autism
  • Treating individuals with forensic needs
  • Flexible and tolerant
  • Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, Transforming Care policy, and legislation
Salary and Benefits
