About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Senior Practitioner to join our team at Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust.

Job Overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified mental health professional to work in a dynamic and innovative team, providing high-quality care to patients in A&E and on medical wards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver effective clinical assessments and interventions focusing on relapse prevention, early discharge, and improved quality of life for patients referred.
  • Undertake mental health assessments for individuals attending the Emergency Department, offering highly developed clinical and risk assessments and management plans.
  • Provide support and training to acute hospital staff regarding recognizing mental health conditions and appropriate management and onward referral pathways.
  • Collaborate with police and ambulance staff to ensure appropriate pathway decisions.
  • Coordinate the assessment process for individuals brought to a Place of Safety under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act.
Requirements
  • Professional registration in health or social care with up-to-date accreditation.
  • Experience using holistic assessment approaches and complex risk management.
  • Flexible working across divisions if necessary.
  • Ability to work a range of shifts over a 24-hour, 7-day period on a rotation basis.
