Maintenance Electrician Opportunity at HMP Featherstone

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Electrician to join our team at HMP Featherstone, a secure site near Wolverhampton. As a Maintenance Electrician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the planned and reactive maintenance work within the prison is carried out safely, compliantly, and in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out planned and preventative electrical maintenance to ensure the smooth operation of the prison's electrical systems.
  • Diagnose and replace failed domestic electrical components, responding to breakdowns in a timely and safe manner.
  • Actively fault find and problem solve on domestic electrical systems across the prison, ensuring all works are carried out under the appropriate Safe System of Work.
  • Undertake electrical installation activities in accordance with design provided and IET Wiring Regulations.
  • Test and inspect electrical installations in accordance with current IEE wiring regulations.
  • Monitor and order critical spares for all electrical services.
Requirements:
  • Appropriate technical qualification, such as City & Guilds 2365 parts 1-3, BTEC, or NVQ level.
  • Ability to work in a secure environment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
