Job Overview

The Research Department at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly experienced and skilled individual to fill the role of Research Delivery Business Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and ambitious professional to join our team and contribute to the development and implementation of our research strategy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the line management of a team of 7 experienced research project managers, covering research portfolios supporting a team of clinical delivery staff. This will involve supporting their learning and development, as well as other line management activities.

The role will also involve taking forward a Business Development Plan, with the support and oversight of the Senior Leadership Team, to realize the department's strategic goals of financial stability.

Main Duties of the Job
  • Line management of a team of 7 research project managers
  • Supporting the learning and development of team members
  • Development and implementation of a Business Development Plan
  • Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team to achieve strategic goals

Person Specification
  • Good standard of education to minimum of 4 GCSEs including Maths and English
  • Appropriate degree/diploma or equivalent level of experience
  • Significant and recent operational middle management experience involving budgetary, staff and service management in an acute hospital setting
  • Experience in the management and delivery of significant organisational change programmes
  • Leadership skills demonstrating ability to influence and negotiate successful outcomes
  • Ability to identify and apply at all levels appropriate and responsive communication mechanisms
  • Proven ability to manage and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Able to demonstrate innovation with strong analytical skills
  • Proven ability to manage within agreed resources
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience of project management or work where specific time-limited objectives must be achieved
  • Evidence of continuous personal development
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of Information Governance
