Liverpool, Liverpool, United Kingdom Leidos Full time

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Robot Technical Engineer to oversee the programming and operation of ABB robots in a Body Shop Automation project based at Halewood.

As the Robot Technical Lead/Senior Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful implementation and operation of robotic systems within the body-in-white assembly process. You will be responsible for developing and optimizing robot programs for ABB robotic systems based on project requirements and production goals.

This includes path planning, motion control, and integration with peripheral equipment. Troubleshooting is also key, as you will identify and resolve technical issues related to robot programming, motion control, and communication interfaces.

You will continuously monitor and analyse robot performance metrics to identify opportunities for process optimization, cycle time reduction, and quality improvement. You must maintain comprehensive documentation of robot programs, system configurations, and troubleshooting procedures, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.

Safety compliance is essential, so you will ensure that all robotic systems and automation processes comply with safety regulations and standards. Implementing risk assessments and safety protocols to mitigate hazards is critical to this role.

This role requires strong knowledge of automation concepts, robotic kinematics, and control systems. Proficiency in robot programming languages such as RAPID or similar programming languages for industrial robots is necessary.

Experience with process simulate software for robot simulation and offline programming is an advantage. Extensive experience in programming and operating ABB robotic systems, particularly in body shop automation applications, is required.

Prior experience in technical delivery management and leadership roles is desirable. A recognised technical qualification or relevant proven experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field is necessary.

A driving licence and willingness to travel and work flexible hours as required by project demands are also essential.

The salary range for this role is £45,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience, and offers a competitive package with great benefits including a pension scheme, private medical insurance, and life assurance.
