The Role

  • Weekly profit and loss statement (P&L) and key performance indicator (KPI) reporting by division or process.
  • Collaboration with operations to develop and maintain a suite of daily and weekly KPIs specific to various waste processing lines and vehicle types.
  • Close working relationship with the finance team to ensure waste revenues and costs are reconciled and accounted for.
  • Supporting finance team members with accounting and reporting processes, including month-end and year-end processes, as required.
  • Continuous variance analysis, including the tracking of actual and forecast performance against key benchmarks, such as budget, five-year plan, and last year's performance.
  • Preparation of financial analysis compared to competitor and industry benchmarks.
  • Management of cost-efficient waste flow within the business.
  • Assistance in preparing monthly management accounts, providing meaningful variance analysis, trend analysis, and scenario analysis, as required.
  • Development of a reporting suite using Power BI to assist key stakeholders in managing waste flows.
  • Support for a broad range of ad hoc projects, including finance projects and other commercial projects, as needed.

The Requirements

  • Experience in commercial finance and financial planning and analysis (FP&A) activities.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with employees across multiple business areas and possess excellent influencing skills.
  • Good communication skills, comfortable interacting with different types of people daily.
  • Strong analytical skills, including using Excel and other systems to examine large datasets.
  • Enjoy working in a challenging and fast-paced environment.
