Lead Officer for Community Safety

Job Summary:

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Lead Community Protection Officer. This is a permanent position that requires strong leadership and management skills, as well as a deep understanding of community safety and anti-social behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support a team of 8 officers in the investigation of cases of anti-social behaviour, noise, and statutory nuisance.
  • Manage a caseload of complex cases and provide guidance and support to junior officers.
  • Represent the team at panel meetings and deputise for the Operations Manager as required.
  • Take appropriate and proportionate enforcement action in accordance with relevant legislative provisions.
  • Contribute to the achievement of the 'Our Greenwich' plan by working towards making the borough a safe place to be.
  • Work closely with other departments and agencies, including the Police, to resolve issues ranging from neighbour disputes to large-scale unlicensed music events.
  • Carry out reactive and proactive visits, including nights and weekends, and be seen as a front-line responder representing the Council.

Requirements:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A customer-centered, methodical approach to investigation procedures and problem-solving.
  • Ability to carry out monitoring and inspections and an awareness of personal safety precautions.
  • A full valid driving license and daily use of a vehicle suitable for Council business.
