Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our dynamic team at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will have a strong background in working with adults with communication disorders, particularly those with head and neck cancer, tracheostomy, and dysphagia.

Main Duties
  • Provide inpatient and outpatient Head and Neck SLT services as part of the Head and Neck MDT.
  • Conduct voice assessments, therapy, and management on a face-to-face and telehealth basis.
  • Work with tracheostomy patients as needed, alongside our Specialist Respiratory SLTs.
  • Deliver inpatient and outpatient acute ward sessions on a weekday basis.
  • Supervise and mentor Band 5 team members and Support Worker staff.

Person Specification
  • Essential criteria:
    • Experience working with adults with communication disorders caused by various aetiologies.
    • Experience working with adult patients in head and neck cancer, tracheostomy, and dysphagia specialisms.
    • Experience managing caseloads in inpatient and outpatient settings.
    • Knowledge of national and local policy, speech and language therapy standards of care within specialisms.
  • Desirable criteria:
    • Experience in supervision of other SLT team members.
    • Experience in supervision of SLT students up to final year examination level.
