We are seeking an experienced High Precision Mechanical Engineer to join our client in Christchurch. The successful candidate will be responsible for repairing, overhauling and modifying a variety of mechanical, pneumatic, heat transfer, electronic, air turbines and electromechanical aircraft components according to federal and European regulations.

This role involves all aspects of the repair process including diagnostic fault finding, stripping, initial inspection, parts call-up, building and testing of final units. These must be compliant with Component Maintenance Manuals, Engineering drawing requirements and customer specifications.

The right person will have previous experience in mechanical assembly and repair. They will also have good computer literacy skills and be able to work as part of a team within a lean manufacturing environment. Customer focus, a flexible approach to work and a good attitude are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret component maintenance manuals, service bulletins and other regulator-approved technical data for repairs and overhauls.
  • Perform preliminary inspections including diagnostic tests, disassembly, cleaning and component inspection.
  • Determine the material needed for overhaul or repair.
  • Repair, overhaul and assemble units according to approved technical data.
  • Perform final tests of units to meet customer deadlines.
  • Prioritise and process units in order to meet customer due dates.
  • Process units in accordance with the Quality Management System and Repair Station Manual.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in mechanical assembly and repair.
  • Good computer literacy skills.
  • Able to work as part of a team within a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Customer focus, flexible approach to work and good attitude.
  • A recognised Engineering Apprenticeship is desirable but not essential.

Salary: £15.00 per hour
