Pension Scheme Governance Expert Role

Aon is seeking a skilled Pension Scheme Governance Expert to join the Trustee Retirement Consulting Team. The ideal candidate will have a background in the pensions industry and a keen interest in helping pension scheme trustees operate effectively.

The role involves supporting clients in various governance areas, including risk management, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and cyber governance. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of governance principles and be able to provide expert advice to clients.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring robust decision-making, performance measurement, business planning, and risk management
  • Supporting in-house client teams in an increasingly challenging resourcing, recruitment, and retention environment
  • Managing all risks, including cybercrime and business continuity
  • Ensuring equality, diversity, and inclusion are integrated into all aspects of scheme management
  • Providing support to develop and review relevant strategies and policies
  • Supporting on evolving communications strategies to ensure strong levels of member engagement
  • The transition to the Pension Regulator's General Code, including the Own Risk Assessment
  • The ongoing management of pension committees and boards

The successful candidate will have a collaborative approach to work and be able to make decisions as required. They will also have the ability to use problem-solving skills and create solutions and implement change.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relevant experience in a pensions environment
  • A strong understanding of governance, including risk management, performance monitoring, compliance, and business planning
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead discussions with all levels
  • Self-motivation, with the ability to encourage and develop other colleagues
  • The ability to advise at a strategic level, with an eye for detail
  • Collaborative approach to work, with the ability to make decisions as required
