Salary: £23,152 per annum

About the Role

We provide catering services to over 500 schools across Lancashire, serving over 60,000 school meals per day. As a School Meal Catering Assistant, you will work as part of a team in and around Lancaster, preparing and serving healthy, balanced meals to students. Your responsibilities will include preparing the dining area for service, assisting in food preparation and cooking, cleaning equipment and catering areas, and running units in the absence of a UCS (Unit Manager).

This is a term-time only position, with variable hours depending on school meal uptake and service needs. You must be able to drive and have a car insured for business use, although we may consider candidates with disabilities that prevent them from driving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the dining area for service, including setting up furniture and cleaning
  • Assist in food preparation, cooking, and serving
  • Clean all equipment and catering areas
  • Run units in the absence of a UCS

Requirements

  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative
  • Good customer care skills
  • Previous catering and food preparation experience

Working Hours/Days

  • Monday to Friday
  • Term time only
  • Variable hours depending on school meal uptake and service needs

Lancashire County Council offers a range of benefits, including a salary of £23,152 per annum, which is paid on a pro-rata basis for this part-time role. We reserve the right to close down this vacancy early if sufficient applications are received.
