Porter - Patient Transport and Support

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Hospital Porter to join our team at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. As a Hospital Porter, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital's patient transport and support services.
Key Responsibilities- Transport patients and visitors safely and efficiently throughout the hospital.
- Assist with mortuary duties, including the transportation of bodies and the maintenance of mortuary facilities.
- Deliver equipment, furniture, and fittings as required, ensuring that patient-related equipment is clean and in good repair.
- Provide a collection and delivery service for internal specimens, theatre/x-ray lists, and other essential items.
- Assist with emergency procedures, including cardiac arrests, major incidents, and patient collapses.
We are looking for an individual with:
- Previous portering experience and a good understanding of the hospital environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Ability to work on own initiative and unsupervised, with a high level of flexibility and adaptability.
- Basic written report skills and the ability to complete tasks on a computer or hand-held device.
- Physical ability to carry 56lbs in weight and work in a fast-paced environment.
