Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced MEP Technical Manager to support our multiple projects managed at various stages of design and construction. The ideal candidate will have extensive site-based design and technical MEP experience, with a strong background in the design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with our in-house team to prepare consultant scopes of services and manage detailed design expectations against the requirements of the development programme.
  • Manage and provide direction on MEP design, identify any scope shortfalls, and ensure tender information has been thoroughly considered.
  • Work with the team to identify all design and construction risks and regularly update the MEP risk register for internal review.
  • Manage the review of drawings, specifications, and instructions, and provide direction on construction phasing and associated MEP strategy necessary for phased handovers.
  • Provide direction and review design for the timely relocation of chillers and energy centre works, and provide direction on the design of utility and bathroom pods, ensuring all risks have been considered.
  • Review and manage project schedules and identify any non-compliance matters for consideration and actioning by all relevant parties.
  • Liaise with the cost team to ensure the design and specifications meet with the company's budget expectations, and manage the impact of any design changes on the development programme and associated impact on costs.
  • Manage and provide direction on all MEP procurement and evaluation of contractor tender returns, and evaluate all tender returns and prepare reports setting out findings and recommendations.
  • Attend contractor design and management meetings and provide direction as required to ensure compliance with employer requirements, and review and comment on contractor design information and ensure employers agents are fulfilling their responsibilities.
  • Report on all H&S matters requiring attention, and regularly attend site to inspect progress and compliance with the employer's requirements and prepare reports.
  • Provide direction on all product approvals and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, and programme management and identifying areas of risk requiring direction.
  • Focus on problem-solving and ensuring timely completion of all MEP-related works, and attend as appropriate all testing and commissioning activities and report on progress.
  • Prepare regular progress reports for senior management review.

Requirements

  • Educational Background: Degree or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certifications: Project Management certification is highly desirable.
  • Proven Experience: Demonstrated success in delivering large-scale residential MEP systems for complex projects.
  • Construction Expertise: Extensive experience in the delivery of complex residential mixed-use developments, skilled in overseeing all MEP design and construction activities.
  • MEP Systems: Strong background in the design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Site-Based Expertise: Significant site-based design and technical MEP experience.
  • Team Leadership: Knowledge of external MEP consultant operations, ensuring alignment with company expectations, and proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams, including subcontractors and consultants.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work closely with internal teams, providing expert guidance on all MEP-related matters.
  • Compliance Review: Proficient in reviewing contractor design documents to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with business goals.
  • Project Lifecycle Management: Thorough understanding of MEP systems throughout all project stages, including handover and post-completion processes.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills with a proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with architects, contractors, and engineers to ensure successful project delivery.
