Senior Construction Manager

Our client is a key player in the UK's first decarbonised industrial cluster, providing engineering and technology solutions for carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS). This project is part of a broader strategy to support the UK's net-zero targets and advance the development of sustainable energy systems.

The Senior Construction Manager will be a key member of this team, reporting to the Project Director. This wide-ranging role will require you to:

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise the project directorate on ensuring all activities are performed in compliance with UK standards, rules, regulations, and industrial relations.
  • Ensure construction activities on site are performed in compliance with UK standards, rules, regulations, and industrial relations.
  • Manage and monitor the correct implementation of the construction quality system during the construction phase.
  • Ensure all construction activities are executed and coordinated according to project strategies/plans and that scheduled targets are achieved.
  • Ensure effective safety and environmental coordination and cooperation between Contractor and Subcontractor/Suppliers.
Requirements
  1. A strong safety ethic with a personal sense of responsibility for the safety of others.
  2. Fully conversant with construction management and execution, contracting strategies, construction planning, industrial relations, CDM, quality, and turnover systems as well as construction health, safety, environmental, and sustainability requirements.
  3. Proven experience of all aspects of construction management on both EPC, EPCm, and alliance projects including contractor pre-qualification, contract strategy, selection of contractors, safety management, client coordination, work permit systems, shutdown management, QA/QC, and associated documentation.
  4. Extensive experience in industry, preferably on major projects in petrochemical, energy transition, and related industries.
  5. HNC or Degree in a relevant engineering or construction subject.
  6. Good spatial awareness with a practical problem-solving mindset.
  7. Excellent skills in interpersonal relations, conflict resolution, communication, and leadership; possess strong presentation ability to address senior management, clients.
  8. Contractually, commercially, and technically astute.
  9. Fluent in writing and speaking English (UK).
  10. NEC contract exposure.
  11. Understanding of UK National Agreements with Trade Unions.
  12. Familiar with CDM regulations across design and construction phases.
  13. CSCS card and SMSTS qualification.
