Exciting Opportunity for a Clinical Scientist or Senior Biomedical Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Scientist or Senior Biomedical Scientist to join our Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (H&I) Laboratory. Our laboratory is a supra-regional centre involved in the provision of HLA selected platelets and immunogenetic diagnostic testing to many hospitals in the Midlands and North of England.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyse and interpret a wide range of specialist scientific and technical procedures and investigations relating to the issue of results for transplant patients and donors.
  • Perform, analyse, and interpret specialist Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (H&I) investigations, including molecular and serological based testing.
  • Assist with quality management issues within the laboratory, under the direction of the Clinical Scientists Section Head and Laboratory Operations Manager.
  • Communicate specialist results to internal and external clinicians, other healthcare colleagues, and scientific staff.
  • Contribute to the coordination and supervision of the work, training, and conduct of scientific and support staff.
  • Assist with the supply of HLA selected platelet units and provide advice to clinicians.
Requirements
  • MSc or equivalent in transplantation, immunology, transfusion, or relevant science, or equivalent specialist knowledge gained by examination of a professional body.
  • BSc in Biological/Medical sciences or relevant sciences.
  • Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD).
