Purpose of the Job

This Business Development Manager will be responsible for managing overdue debt through disconnections and internal/external legal processes. As a hybrid role, you'll work full-time Monday to Friday, enjoying a competitive salary, bonus, and benefits package.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the Debt Recovery and Disconnections team, overseeing warrants and legal processes.
  • Assist customers and their representatives in expediting claims and recovering outstanding debts or settlements.
  • Collaborate with internal legal teams on high-value claims (over £50k).
  • Approve settlements, write-offs, and authorize legal actions within set delegations.
  • Ensure timely maintenance of Legal trackers and Debt Recovery tickets, adhering to authority delegations.
  • Manage the full legal process with external solicitors, acting as the main point of contact for queries and expenditure control.
  • Validate and sign off Disconnection and External Legal Costs invoices.

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A working knowledge of gas and electricity industry processes across SME and I&C sectors.
  • An understanding of customer lifecycles and interdependencies between Credit Control and interfacing departments.
  • Proven organisational skills, producing accurate work under tight deadlines.
  • High numeracy and awareness of cost recovery.
  • Strong verbal reasoning skills and Microsoft Office proficiency.
  • The ability to demonstrate practical problem-solving and manage conflicting priorities.
  • A proven record of excellent customer service and quality experience in credit control.
  • GCSE English and Mathematics Grade C (or equivalent).
