Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Public Law Solicitor to join our team. As a Public Law Solicitor, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and guidance to other team members, managing and supervising Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers, and assisting with the delivery of training and development in the department.

The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to providing an excellent standard of service to our clients, excellent management skills, and a proven track record of success in public law matters. You will also have a clean, valid Practising Certificate at the time of applying and be committed to working in a team environment.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to other team members
  • Manage and supervise Solicitors, Trainee Solicitors, and Caseworkers
  • Assist with the delivery of training and development in the department
  • Deal with a range of public law work, including unlawful detention, false imprisonment, and challenging non-appealable decisions
  • Prepare and manage funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency
  • Prepare draft documents, including witness statements and processing evidence
  • Attend conferences and court
Requirements:
  • Law Society Immigration Accreditation Level 2 (IAAS) and Supervisor
  • Strong management skills
  • Committed team player with ability to approach team concerns fairly
  • Previous proven supervisory experience and working to key performance indicators
  • Professional with a pro-active approach and excellent client care skills
  • Excellent networking and communication skills
  • Working knowledge of the Legal Aid Guidance for Public Law matters
