London, Greater London, United Kingdom National Grid Full time

Establish a successful career in the energy sector with National Grid as a Project Consents Specialist.

About Us

National Grid is at the heart of the UK's energy network, delivering essential services that keep people connected and society moving. Our team develops, owns, and maintains the physical infrastructure required to transmit electricity from windfarms and power sources across the country.

We're driving the transformation towards a greener future, aiming to bring a more affordable energy future to everyone. As a key player in this journey, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to our mission and make a meaningful impact.

Role Overview

This role offers a unique chance to join our 18-month graduate programme, where you'll develop a wide range of skills and gain valuable experience in project consents management. You'll work collaboratively with our Consents team to ensure that project consents are delivered economically and in accordance with current legislation, regulations, and guidance.

You'll be responsible for preparing, updating, and effectively communicating comprehensive Consents & Land Strategies for projects. This will involve managing project resource requirements, procuring necessary resources, and ensuring they're embedded within the project team ahead of need.

What We Offer
  • A competitive starting salary of £34,895 per annum, plus a £2,000 bonus once joined and started on the programme.
  • 26 days holiday, flexible working arrangements, and up to £200 per month accommodation allowance during your rotations.
  • Pension and share-option schemes, close mentorship, regular feedback, and volunteering opportunities.

As a Graduate Programme participant, you'll benefit from tailored development sessions, 121 coaching, and access to industry experts. You'll also have the chance to record good practices and lessons learned, contributing to the improvement of our consenting processes.

Your Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should have a degree related to Town & Country Planning, Environment Assessment, or Sustainability. A minimum 2:2 degree classification is preferred, but we welcome applications from candidates currently pursuing their qualification.

You'll need flexibility to travel within the role and throughout your rotations as required. Additionally, you must demonstrate the legal right to work in the UK for the duration of the graduate programme. If you require visa sponsorship, please indicate this in your application.
