The post holder will work autonomously as a specialist Infection Prevention and Control Nurse, responsible for facilitating the prevention, surveillance, investigation, and control of infection within NHS Lothian.

The post holder will liaise with and provide specialist advice to a wide variety of staff within NHS Lothian, including Executive and Non-Executive Members, General Managers, Clinical Directors, Nursing and Medical staff, Allied Health Professionals, and Support Services staff.

The post holder will deputise for the Lead Nurse as required.

This is a leadership and advisory role, and the post holder may be asked to lead specific projects.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group, an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024, with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part-time staff.
