About the Role

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, contributing to the development of our services, and supporting the training of junior medical staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and expertise in Gastroenterology, working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Participate in the on-call rota, providing emergency and elective care to patients with gastrointestinal complaints.
  • Contribute to the audit and governance of our services, ensuring high standards of patient care and safety.
  • Support the training and development of junior medical staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Engage in research and quality improvement activities, driving innovation and best practice in our department.

Person Specification

  • MBBS, MB ChB, or equivalent medical qualification.
  • MRCP or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Full Registration and a licence to practise with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  • Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register via Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR).
