About the Role:

Evergreen Talent Partners is seeking a highly skilled Renewable Energy Project Lead to support the development and pre-construction phases of Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System projects throughout the UK. As part of our dynamic mid-sized renewable energy developer, you will play a key role in project delivery from initial technical assessments through to securing necessary approvals and preparing for construction.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Development (Technical):
    • Conduct site feasibility analysis, including solar PV and BESS suitability, grid connections, and environmental impacts.
    • Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants to develop project layouts, optimizing for energy generation and cost-efficiency.
    • Perform detailed energy yield assessments, shading analyses, and evaluate technical constraints.
    • Liaise with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) to secure grid connection offers, manage grid applications, and assess grid capacity.
    • Ensure all technical due diligence is completed during the development phase, including reviewing third-party reports (geotechnical, environmental, etc.).
  • Pre-Construction Responsibilities:
    • Coordinate with planning teams to support permitting applications, ensuring compliance with local and national regulations.
    • Assist in the selection of EPC contractors and suppliers for key project components (PV panels, inverters, batteries, etc.).
    • Prepare technical documents and specifications for tendering and construction phases.
    • Identify and manage technical risks associated with project development and pre-construction activities.
    • Work closely with landowners, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project progress.
    • Contribute to project cost estimates and ensure all technical aspects align with budgetary requirements.
  • Cross-Functional Teamwork:
    • Work closely with project development, legal, and finance teams to ensure seamless project progression.
    • Stay up to date with the latest UK renewable energy regulations, grid codes, and technical standards.
    • Provide regular updates to senior management on project status, key milestones, and technical risks.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field).
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in renewable energy projects, specifically Solar PV and/or BESS.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in energy modeling tools (PVSyst, Homer, or similar) and CAD software.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of UK grid connection processes, renewable energy regulations, and solar PV/BESS technologies.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and liaise with external stakeholders.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications in project management (PMP, PRINCE2) are a plus.
