Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Yard Operative to join our team at Sims Metal. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient processing of metals and the safe de-pollution of vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Health and Safety: Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to Sims Metal's Safety Vision, Principles, and Policy.
  • Operational Efficiency: Contribute to the smooth running of the operation by ensuring accurate recording of vehicle details and maintaining the de-pollution rig according to the maintenance schedule.
  • De-Pollution Activities: Ensure all tyres, wheels, and batteries are removed prior to de-pollution and maintain a clean and tidy working area.
  • Quality Control: Ensure material produced meets specifications as directed by the Supervisor and perform daily checks to maintain quality standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Coordinate with other site operatives to ensure correct processing of all loads and maintain effective communication with the team.
  • Operational Use of Mobile Plant: Perform duties as required and ensure the rig, tools, and surrounding area are kept in a clean and tidy state.
  • Adaptability: Be flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances and priorities.
Requirements
  • Teamwork and Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Health and Safety Knowledge: Sound knowledge of Health and Safety principles and practices.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and accuracy in recording and reporting.
