About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Education Welfare Officer/Attendance Officer to join our team at Outwood Academy Freeston. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of our students and contribute to our academy's mission to provide the very best education for every child.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and report on whole-school attendance data, analysing trends to identify key areas of concern and inform strategies to improve attendance.
  • Work closely with pupils, staff, parents, and carers to reduce levels of absence and address persistent absence as a safeguarding issue.
  • Craft individualised attendance plans and provide support and interventions as appropriate, in line with the Local Authorities 'Support First' process.
  • Identify and address any safeguarding issues in accordance with school procedures.
  • Carry out home visits, where necessary, to support students and families.
Requirements
  • Experience of working successfully with children, families, and multi-agencies, with knowledge of the latest government guidance 'Working Together to Improve School Attendance'.
  • Knowledge of the legal framework governing attendance and enforcement measures for non-attendance.
  • Experience working in a school environment or other educational setting.
  • Experience identifying interventions to raise attendance of pupils.
  • Experience of monitoring attendance data, follow-ups, and reporting on impact.
