Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Orthodontist to join our multidisciplinary team at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing orthodontic care for patients requiring orthognathic surgery, dentoalveolar surgery, craniofacial surgery, orthodontic/restorative treatment, and complex orthodontic treatment.

The post holder will be part of an established team providing high-quality care and will have the opportunity to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with dental and medical colleagues in other specialties.

Main Duties

  • Undertake outpatient clinics, new and follow-ups, with supervision of junior staff as appropriate.
  • Develop and maintain good communication with General dental practitioners, colleagues in the salaried dental services, and local orthodontic specialist practitioners.
  • Orthodontic treatment of complex malocclusions.
  • Active involvement in Audit, Clinical Governance, morbidity and mortality meetings.
  • Participation in the departmental educational activity.
  • Share responsibility for data protection, particularly digital and electronic records.
  • Ensure good clinical practice and continued professional development.
  • The post holder will comply with infection control practices and any relevant trust policies and procedures with regards to Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults.
  • Supervision of the Specialist Registrars, DCTs, and therapists will be required.
