Assistant Accountant Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our team at a well-established business operating for 40 years. The successful candidate will work closely with the Management Accountant and Finance Controller on a wide range of projects and tasks to manage the finance function.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Processing Hourly Payroll: Accurately process hourly payroll for employees, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
  • Fixed Asset Register and Depreciation: Maintain the fixed asset register and ensure accurate depreciation calculations.
  • General Ledger, Cashbook, and Bank Reconciliation: Post transactions to the general ledger, manage the cashbook, and perform bank reconciliations.
  • Support to Management Accountant: Assist the Management Accountant with prepayments, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ad Hoc Tasks and Projects: Provide support or lead on ad hoc tasks and projects for the Management Accountant and Financial Controller.
