Job Title: Quality Assurance Specialist
Location: Bristol
Contract Type: Permanent / Full Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per Week
Pay: £19.00 per hour
The Quality Assurance Specialist will ensure that all products and processes meet the required quality standards in line with ISO9001/AS9100 certifications. This role involves conducting inspections, documenting findings, and working closely with production teams to maintain high-quality manufacturing standards, particularly in the Defence, Aerospace, and Nuclear sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular inspections of incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and quality issues. Prepare reports for management and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
- Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with ISO9001/AS9100 standards.
- Identify non-conformities and participate in root cause analysis. Collaborate with the production team to implement corrective actions.
- Serve as a point of contact for customers on quality-related inquiries and participate in quality audits.
- Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality standards and inspection processes to enhance overall product quality.
- Monitor and report on quality performance metrics, including right first time, internal reject rates, and customer feedback.
- Assist in evaluating and approving suppliers based on quality performance and compliance with standards.
- Actively participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of quality processes.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards, including REACH and conflict minerals regulations.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a quality inspection role within manufacturing, preferably in Defence, Aerospace, or Nuclear sectors.
- Familiarity with ISO9001 and AS9100 standards; knowledge of NADCAP is a plus.
- Strong understanding of engineering processes, including precision machining, sheet metalwork, and fabrication.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills to assess quality issues effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting and collaboration with team members.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access).
