About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate English Teacher to join our team at a well-regarded secondary school in Southsea, Portsmouth. As a dedicated educator, you will play a vital role in inspiring and supporting students to achieve their full potential in English and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, fostering a love for literature, language, and communication.
  • Assess and monitor students' progress, providing constructive feedback to help them achieve their targets and reach their full potential.
  • Collaborate with the English department to develop creative teaching resources and strategies that cater to different learning styles and abilities.
  • Contribute to the wider school community, including extra-curricular activities and initiatives that promote academic and personal growth.
  • Maintain high expectations for student behaviour and performance, promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • A degree in English or a closely related subject
  • Experience teaching English at secondary school level, ideally with a proven track record of student progress
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Passionate about teaching and committed to inspiring young people
  • A current enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one)
