Culinary Assistant

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Culinary Assistant to join our team at East Renfrewshire Council. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals, maintaining high standards of food presentation, and ensuring the smooth operation of our dining facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals to a high standard, using fresh ingredients and adhering to food safety guidelines.
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
• Work effectively as part of a team, providing excellent customer service and supporting colleagues as needed.
• Assist with food presentation, including plating and garnishing dishes.
• Transport and serve meals to customers, ensuring a high level of service and attention to detail.

Requirements

• Relevant cooking skills and experience, with a strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
• A City and Guilds Catering qualification or similar would be an advantage.
• Able to work in a regulated environment, with a strong understanding of the needs of vulnerable clients.
