About the Role

We are seeking a skilled High Voltage System Specialist to join our Power & Cooling team at BT Group.

As a vital member of our network operations team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our power systems, including low and high voltage systems, alarms, emergency lighting, cooling, and UPS.

You will work closely with experienced teams in exchange buildings, radio sites, rooftops, and outdoors to support the variety of power systems and cooling equipment that keeps our networks running 24/7, 365 days a year.

Your primary objective will be to contribute towards meeting strict SLAs by utilising your skills, taking ownership of your designated patch, and coaching those around you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritise H&S, delivering work with full regard for health and safety aspects, carrying out on-site risk assessments, and informing managers of near misses/incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with internal sign-off requirements from our Power Environmental Specialists and Power Technical Support Group.
  • Help create an inclusive working environment where people from all backgrounds can succeed, effectively living by the ES values and supporting ES teams.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A strong background in electrical engineering, with City & Guilds 2360 parts 1+2 or equivalent NVQ certification.
  • BTEC Electrical Engineering Level 3/HNC/HND/MOET Level 3/ET Level 3 qualification.
  • 18th Edition Regs knowledge.
  • Inspection, Testing and Verification (C&G 2392-10) certification.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience with Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS).
  • HVAC Refrigeration C&G/NVQ Level 3 qualification.
  • F-GAS category 1 certification.
  • Demonstrable experience of repairing and maintaining Air Conditioning Split systems.
  • Experience of working with DC power systems.
  • Coaching/mentoring/supervisory experience.
