Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Engineering and Maintenance Manager to join our team at Sappi. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the engineering team and ensuring the efficient operation and maintenance of all manufacturing equipment and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and develop a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements.
    • Implement best practices and innovative solutions.
    • Develop contingency plans and train staff accordingly.
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance program to maximize equipment uptime and extend asset life.
  • Supervision and Management:
    • Oversee engineering projects from concept to completion on time and within budget.
    • Report on KPIs.
    • Collaborate with external vendors and contractors to secure necessary products and services.
    • Manage supplier relationships.
    • Manage any equipment failures or breakdowns, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
    • Participate in on-call/standby rota outside of normal working hours to support 24-hour production.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure all maintenance and engineering activities comply with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
    • Promote a safe working environment and a zero-accidents culture.
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance program to maximize equipment uptime and extend asset life.

Requirements:

  • BEng preferred.
  • HND or equivalent in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrument Control, and Process Engineering) may be considered.
  • SAP - intermediate level experience.
  • Project management experience and qualifications are desired.
  • Significant experience of working in a similar business/manufacturing environment.
