About the Role:
The Senior Underwriter, Wholesale Marine Cargo position is a newly created role within Aviva's Marine team, reflecting the company's continued growth and ambition in the marine cargo market. This role is a key part of the team's success, growth, and ambition, and is responsible for delivering the volume, quality, and profitability of growth opportunities to the Line of Business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver the volume, quality, and profitability of growth opportunities to the Line of Business, enabling them to hit their plan targets.
- Build relationships with brokers and customers worldwide, including some travel.
- Responsible for the performance and development of the risks assigned, including metrics for new and renewal targets for GWP, NWP, Loss Ratio, Expense Ratio, and Combined Ratio.
- Exercise case-by-case judgment to ensure overall strategy and governance targets are met.
Requirements:
- Experience in underwriting and handling London market wholesale cargo and stock throughput business.
- Proven track record of underwriting a portfolio for a London Market/Lloyd's Marine account, including understanding the metrics required to monitor such a portfolio.
- Well-regarded by major London market brokers, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Results-oriented and able to plan and prioritize effectively.
