Job Title: Engineering Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Engineering Technician to join our team at AG Barr. As an Engineering Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the maximum availability and reliability of our production equipment. Your technical expertise will be essential in completing scheduled maintenance activities and responding to technical issues in a timely and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Equipment Maintenance: Undertake planned preventative and corrective maintenance across all equipment on the site, recommending improvements where appropriate to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Fault Finding and Diagnostic Work: Diagnose problems and implement permanent corrective actions to prevent recurrence, working closely with equipment users to understand the problems and implement sustainable remedial solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement changes where appropriate.
  • Health and Safety: Carry out all duties in accordance with safe working practices and factory hygiene standards.
  • Reporting: Produce detailed written reports when required, including downtime sheets and line log books.
  • Equipment Consultation: Consult manufacturers' manuals and detailed mechanical exploded drawings to ensure correct replacement parts are ordered.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in a Mechanical/Electrical engineering discipline, ONC/BTEC Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical/Electrical engineering discipline, or time served/apprentice trained.
  • Experience: Previous experience of working in an Engineering/Maintenance department, preferably within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Skills: Ability to fault find, diagnose, and correct Electrical and Mechanical equipment faults, knowledge of industrial control systems and PLC's (preferably Siemens), and strong IT skills.
  • Personal Qualities: Proactive and positive can-do attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
