Finance Director

The Ministry of Defence is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Director to join its team. As a key member of the Finance Leadership Team, you will be responsible for providing strategic financial guidance and leadership to support the effective control and management of the Defence Nuclear Enterprise's finances.
Key Responsibilities- Financial Leadership: Provide expert financial leadership and guidance to the Defence Nuclear Enterprise, ensuring the effective management of finances and the delivery of financial results.
- Financial Planning and Budgeting: Develop and implement financial plans and budgets that align with the Defence Nuclear Enterprise's strategic objectives, ensuring the effective allocation of resources and the delivery of financial results.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis: Provide accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis to support business decision-making, ensuring that financial information is presented in a clear and concise manner.
- Financial Risk Management: Identify and manage financial risks, ensuring that the Defence Nuclear Enterprise is protected against potential financial losses and that financial resources are used effectively.
- Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including the Chief Finance Officer, the Director General Finance, and other senior leaders within the Ministry of Defence.
- Financial Systems and Processes: Lead the development and implementation of financial systems and processes that support the Defence Nuclear Enterprise's financial management needs, ensuring that financial information is accurate, reliable, and accessible.
- Experience of working in a senior finance leadership role within a large and diverse organisation, with a proven track record of delivering financial results.
- Background in working with long-term capital projects and experience in developing and delivering against budgets and forecasts.
- Clear track record of delivering excellent finance management results in a complex and multi-disciplined environment.
- Experience of providing expert professional financial reporting and accounting advice and guidance to others.
- Demonstrable experience of successfully managing financial audit, ensuring compliance and accuracy of reporting.
- Evidence of an inclusive leadership style that role models, inspires, motivates, and promotes collaboration to develop high-performing teams, and champions wellbeing, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
CCAB (including CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA, ICAS, Chartered Accountants Ireland) or international equivalent qualification, with full Associate or Fellowship membership of the relevant accounting body and up-to-date CPD records.
