About the Role

Glasgow Caledonian University, a leading modern university in Scotland, is seeking a highly motivated and flexible Technical Assistant (Science) to support the delivery of programs in the Department of Biological and Biomedical Sciences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare requirements for undergraduate practical laboratory classes
  • Assist in setting up and clearing laboratory areas
  • Perform housekeeping duties, including equipment maintenance and storage
  • Manage stock and order general consumables
  • Collect and receipt deliveries for departmental needs
  • Servicing and maintenance of pipettes
  • Collection of waste materials for decontamination

Requirements

  • National Certificate/Diploma in Biological Sciences/Technical Science
  • Relevant experience working in a practical Science laboratory
  • Ability to manage and prioritize conflicting workloads
  • Manual handling experience
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
