Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at North West Boroughs Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric care to patients on Dee ward, a female acute ward.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Provide consultant-level psychiatric care to 17 patients on Dee ward.
  2. Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments and develop treatment plans for inpatients.
  3. Support staff in managing psychiatric emergencies and provide guidance on crisis management.
  4. Lead multidisciplinary ward reviews, CPA reviews, and multi-professional meetings to ensure high-quality patient care.
  5. Act as the responsible clinician for Mental Health Act 1983 (amended 2007) purposes and carry out duties in accordance with the code of practice.
  6. Provide expert testimony at Mental Health Review Tribunals and Hospital Manager's hearings.
  7. Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and participate in the Trust's risk management processes.
  8. Provide medical leadership and guidance to the team.
  9. Liaise with carers and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.
  10. Provide clinical and educational supervision to junior colleagues.
Requirements
  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months.
  • Approved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Excellent knowledge in general adult psychiatry.
  • Excellent clinical skills using a bio-psycho-social perspective.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Wide range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to the post.
