We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Specialist to join our team at West Suffolk Hospital.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for conducting ward rounds, reviewing patients, and providing advice on day-to-day management of medical inpatients. They will also supervise and train junior medical staff, ensuring effective patient flow through the unit.
Responsibilities- Conduct ward rounds on the short stay ward and review patients within the General Medicine Assessment Unit, Ambulatory Emergency Care (AEC), and DVT services.
- Supervise, train, and assess assigned General Medicine junior medical staff.
- Ensure effective patient flow through the unit.
- Provide advice and day-to-day management of medical inpatients.
- Maintain the highest clinical standards in the management of all inpatients and outpatients under your care.
- Teach and train intermediate, junior staff, nursing staff, and medical students.
This is a full-time post based at West Suffolk Hospital, funded for 10 PA's. The weekday working pattern starts at 08:30hrs until 17:00hrs Monday to Friday. There are protected shifts for administration and SPA time (1.5 PAs).
Educational ArrangementsThe University of Cambridge Medical School Graduate Course is based at the West Suffolk, which led to the development of a new teaching complex. The appointee is expected to participate in teaching and training of medical students, junior staff, and other clinical staff groups.
