About the Role

Gibson Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team on a part-time basis. As a specialist sub-contractor based in Midlothian, we require an individual with a strong background in quantity surveying to assist us in achieving maximum commercial benefit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Prepare accurate cost estimates and budgets for construction projects, taking into account materials, time, and labour costs.
  • Feasibility Studies: Conduct thorough feasibility studies to evaluate the viability of projects and identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Financial Management: Manage project finances, ensuring cost control measures are in place and monitoring project progress to identify any financial implications.
  • Contract Negotiation: Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations, ensuring the best possible terms for the company.
  • Project Monitoring: Monitor project progress and variations, ensuring financial implications are understood and outstanding accounts are collected.
  • CIS Returns: Prepare and submit CIS returns, ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field, with Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) preferred.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and numerical skills, excellent communication and negotiation abilities, and proficiency in cost management software.
  • Experience: Experience in cost control is advantageous, but not essential.
