About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our Medicines Optimisation Team as a Team Leader. The successful candidate will provide leadership to the Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants, working closely with the Lead Pharmacy Technician and Locality Lead Pharmacists to ensure the team contributes fully to medicines optimisation activities.

Main Responsibilities
  • Support the Lead Medicines Optimisation Technician in delivering Trust-wide medicines management and optimisation.
  • Work collaboratively with the Lead Medicines Optimisation Technician to manage the clinical pharmacy technical team, including annual leave, rotas, HR issues, and training.
  • Engage with stakeholders across the Trust to deliver medicines management and optimisation.
  • Provide a pharmacy-led medicines management technician service to inpatient wards and community teams.
  • Undertake and oversee medicine audits.
  • Contribute to quality improvement projects.
  • Develop and implement pharmacy standard operating procedures and guidelines.
  • Maintain accuracy checking competency through regular checking sessions on the rota.
  • Provide support and cover for the Lead Medicines Optimisation Technician.
  • Support with recruitment and undertake line management responsibilities of pharmacy technicians.
  • Provide mentoring for pharmacy technicians to enable them to achieve competency and knowledge in medicines used to treat mental health disorders.

Person Specification

We are looking for a Pharmacy Technician with:

  • Current General Pharmaceutical Council Registered Pharmacy Technician
  • Nationally recognised Medicines Management or Medicines Optimisation accreditation
  • Accuracy checking accreditation (ACPT)

Desirable qualifications include a leadership qualification, advanced medicines optimisation training, and experience of working in a mental health setting.
