Learning Support Assistant

The Durham County Council is seeking a skilled Learning Support Assistant to join its team at Bowburn Primary School. This role will provide critical support in the Nurture Room provision for children from Year 1 to Year 6.
As a key member of the school's teaching staff, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality education and care to students with diverse needs. Your primary focus will be on assisting teachers in lesson planning, preparing educational materials, and implementing intervention programs for small groups and individuals.
To excel in this position, you must have relevant Level 3 qualifications as a Teaching Assistant and possess exceptional literacy and numeracy skills. Experience working within Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 is highly desirable, as is the ability to work effectively with ICT tools to support learning.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, empathy, and patience when interacting with pupils and colleagues alike. A proven track record of building positive relationships with adults and children is essential for success in this role.
Benefits include a competitive salary range of £24,404 - £25,183 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience. The contract is temporary, commencing immediately until August 31st, 2025, with the possibility of extension. Term-time-only plus two weeks' pay calculations are detailed below:
Term time: 38 weeks
Public holidays: 1.4 weeks (32 days)
Annual leave entitlement varies based on length of service: 27 days for those with less than five years' service and 32 days for those with over five years' service. Leave entitlement includes eight public holidays.
