Job Title: Specialist Biomedical Scientist - Microbiology Department

We are seeking a highly skilled Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our Microbiology department at Northwick Park Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality diagnostic services to our patients.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in bacteriology and experience in processing and testing patient specimens. You will be responsible for reading culture plates, interpreting culture results, and performing PCR testing on samples requiring investigation for TB, Influenza/RSV, SARS-CoV-2, or other organisms as required.

You will also be responsible for the routine operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various automated systems, including Kiestra Laboratory automation, Bactec Fx, MGIT, Phoenix AP/M50s, MALDI-Tof, Sedimax, DS2, EntericBio, and GeneXpert.

As a Specialist Biomedical Scientist, you will be authorized to report results to clinicians and participate in the training of new members of staff. You will also be expected to propose changes and enhance the quality of the service.
