Job Title: Band 8a Counselling Psychologist

We are seeking an experienced Counselling Psychologist to join our team at Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. As a Band 8a Counselling Psychologist, you will be working closely with multi-disciplinary teams across inpatient and community settings, providing highly specialist psychological assessment and therapy to clients with complex conditions.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialist psychological assessment and therapy to clients with complex conditions, including neuropsychological testing.
  • Recognise potential signs of client harm, abuse, or neglect, and take appropriate action to protect the client.
  • Undertake risk assessment and management for individual clients, and provide specialist advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk.
  • Formulate plans for specialist psychological therapy and/or management of clients' mental health conditions, based on an appropriate conceptual framework and evidence-based practice.
About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Physical Health Psychology Service, which operates across three geographical areas. As a Band 8a Counselling Psychologist, you will have the opportunity to work with a range of physical health teams and settings, and develop your skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Person Specification:
  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied Psychology, as accredited by the BPS.
  • Post-doctoral training in additional specialised areas of psychological practice.
  • Trained in clinical supervision and supervision of doctoral trainees.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Experience of joint working with statutory, voluntary, and private sector agencies.
