Teaching Assistant Opportunity in Manchester

Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited is seeking a qualified and experienced Teaching Assistant to join an outstanding Catholic primary school in Manchester. The successful candidate will work within the Reception and Year 1 classes, supporting the delivery of systematic synthetic phonics across phases 2-4.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the teaching staff in delivering phonics lessons to small groups of students
  • Assess pupil progress and provide feedback to teachers
  • Participate in planning meetings to implement a multi-sensory approach to phonics development
  • Work under own initiative to support the Year 1 phonics test
Requirements:
  • NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
  • At least 6 months experience supporting phonics in FS/KS1 within the last year
  • Ability to work under own initiative and participate in planning meetings
  • Desirable: experience of assessing pupil progress and supporting the Year 1 phonics test
