Second Chef

About the Role:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Second Chef to join Barchester Healthcare's team at one of our newest care homes. As a Second Chef, you will have the opportunity to work with fresh seasonal food, create appetising and nutritious menus, and make what you do matter.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, ensuring seamless operations and high-quality dishes.
  • Assist Head Chef in menu development, incorporating resident feedback and dietary requirements.
  • Work with fresh produce to deliver high-quality and wholesome dishes cooked at the highest standards.
  • Create a warm, efficient, and fun environment for residents and colleagues alike.
  • Manage stock control, completing regular audits to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements:
  • A personable and warm approach, with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents.
  • City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification in culinary arts.
  • A good understanding of nutrition and HACCP principles.
  • Experience of working with fresh seasonal food and creating appetising menus.
  • Ability to engage with residents, understand their needs, and create bespoke meal plans.

Salary and Benefits:

The estimated salary for this role is £25,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience. You will also receive a range of benefits, including:
