The Role

We are seeking an experienced board designer to join Arm's Hardware Platform team in Cambridge, UK. The team focuses on prototyping Arm's latest IP products, developing physical hardware development platforms based on custom system-on-chip (SoC) and FPGAs.

The platforms are used for software development and validation activities for both external partners/customers and internal development teams.

Responsibilities:

Develop and commission new hardware platforms, drive PCB development, and collaborate with our CEM for manufacturing support. Work closely with the program team, ensuring planning and scheduling tasks meet project timescales.

Required Skills and Experience

Essential Skills & Qualities

  • High-speed design experience, with knowledge of PCB stack-ups and topologies.
  • Detailed knowledge of embedded system board design, designing with complex LSI devices like FPGAs, and understanding high-speed IO interface standards.
  • Broad knowledge of PCB EDA tools, including schematic entry, layout, and signal integrity analysis.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, with a desire for learning and self-improvement.
  • Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to write coherent documentation.

Desirable Skills and Qualities

The following skills are not essential but would enhance the application:

  • Experience with Cadence CIS, Mentor PADs Layout, Allegro PCB design suite, and Hyperlynx tools.
  • Embedded software knowledge for testing and debugging designs.
  • Collaboration and teamwork skills.
  • RTL skills in Verilog or VHDL.
  • UNIX environment and shell programming/scripting skills.
