About the Role

Nature, a leading science journal, is seeking a Physics Editor to join its team. As a key member of the editorial staff, you will be responsible for commissioning and editing News & Views articles on physics and related sciences. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities include:
  • Commissioning articles from experts in the field of physics, ensuring a balanced representation of authors worldwide.
  • Edit articles for clarity, accuracy, and accessibility, working closely with authors to achieve this.
  • Maintain relationships with relevant editors at Nature and external advisors to ensure seamless article production.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should possess a higher degree in the physical sciences, accompanied by full-time research experience. You must have an appreciation for what constitutes a breakthrough in scientific research and be able to communicate this effectively through written English. Strong editing skills, tact, diplomacy, discretion, and self-confidence are also essential.

A competitive salary package is offered, estimated around £50,000-£70,000 per annum, commensurate with experience. If you are passionate about scientific publishing and possess the necessary skills and qualifications, we encourage you to apply.
