Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Ophthalmic Assistant to provide clinical support in our busy Outpatient Department. The department offers a range of services, including orthopaedics, urology, obstetrics-gynaecology, and dermatology.
Main Responsibilities
- To support our consultant body and patients by performing a variety of scans, including OCT, Topography, Biometry, Visual Fields, and Visual Acuities.
- To assist with procedures in the minor procedures suite, including chalazions and blepharoplasties.
- To ensure accurate and timely completion of documentation, in line with NMC and Hospital guidelines.
- To provide excellent, evidence-based nursing care for patients.
- To communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers, and other staff.

Person Specification
- Extensive experience as a Staff Nurse in a similar healthcare environment.
- Excellent people skills, good communication, and observation ability.
- Sound knowledge and experience within various clinical specialties.
- Demonstrable experience in mentoring junior staff.
